Tiesto

Elements of Life

BY Sarah FergusonPublished Apr 18, 2007

For trance addicts around the world, the name Tiesto might as well be synonymous with "legendary” after being voted the number one DJ in the world by DJ Magazine two years in a row. His latest full-length record, Elements of Life, offers simple beats and moving melodies that are uplifting to the mind and fortifying to the LP. Never forgetting his roots, the non-vocal "Driving to Heaven” and "Bright Morning Star” will classically caress your ears in uplifting trance style. The album holds some skilled vocal tracks as well, including "Everything” with Jes (the vocalist from Motorcycle's "As The Rush Comes”) and love song "Break My Fall” featuring Brian Transeau (BT). Revealing some influence by U2 (the band that first connected electronic music to rock), Tiesto brings rock to trance on current single "In the Dark.” The first house song to ever receive daytime radio play in North America was Tiesto’s remix of Delerium and Sarah McLachlan’s "The Silence” (found regularly on Ministry of Sound chill-out compilations). The songs on Elements of Life are chilling and beautiful and, when brought to varied DJs’ turntables, will continue their flights.
