Throbbing Gristle leader and Psychic TV co-founder Genesis Breyer P-Orridge has been diagnosed with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia.
In a Facebook post, the 67-year-old singer and performance artist revealed that "serious treatments" will begin on Monday (October 23).
As a result, Psychic TV have postponed their upcoming European tour dates.
"We have to agree with my medical experts, my amazing fellow band members, my two daughters Caresse and Genesse, and my chosen extended famille who so lovingly surround me that working on making me strong and fit once more has to be the only sensible priority," P-Orridge wrote. "We kept hoping we'd be OK but today heard the illness has got worse this week. My sincere, oh so sad apologies for all of you who bought tickets."
The message continues, "We've been touring for about 50 years now. It's the first time we have had to do this. We hope it will not be necessary again."

P-Orridge's life, career and relationship with the late Lady Jaye were explored in the Marie Losier-directed documentary The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye back in 2011. That same year also saw the rollout of a massive Throbbing Gristle reissue campaign. This year, the band have also teamed up with Mute to reissue their catalogue.
