Genesis P-Orridge Documentary to Premiere Next Month

Between fronting industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, Genesis P-Orridge has made an indelible impact on music history. As bizarre and challenging as his music has been over the years, there are some other facets of the performer's life that are much more extreme. A new documentary aims to explain P-Orridge's wild life.

As Pitchfork reports, the film, titled The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, will focus more on the singer's relationship with his female companion, Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge, than on his music. The couple's adoration for each other went so far that the pair underwent a series of surgeries so they would appear as much like the other as possible. In 2000, Genesis P-Orridge, for instance, had several body-modifying operations that gave him, among other things, breast and lip implants. Unfortunately, Lady Jaye died in 2007.

The film, directed by Marie Losier, will premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival next month. More screenings are being held in Spain and France. You can check out the info here.

Additionally, Genesis P-Orridge and Tony Conrad will perform a violin concert together at Berlin's Haul Theater on February 19. Considering P-Orridge left Throbbing Gristle a few months ago, the musician's schedule should be fairly open from then on.
