Thee Oh Sees

Help

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 10, 2009

Thee Oh Sees are the current project of former Coachwhips and Pink & Brown member John Dwyer. The project has technically been around for a long time but didn't start putting out releases until 2005. Since then, it's been a steady haul. Help, the latest full-length from the band, sees them in tiptop shape, marrying noisy, rumbling guitars with Dwyer's frantically sung but impossibly sweet melodies. Opener "Enemy Destruct" is all blues swagger and tumultuous howling, while "A Flag In The Court" restrains the noise just a bit for a subtler sound. By adding a thick layer of heavy noise to Dwyer's psych pop songcraft, Thee Oh Sees have written an ideal sun-drenched pop gem for your summer hangover.
