The Weeknd Says It "Doesn't Matter" If 'Dawn FM' Gets a Physical Release

"What matters is getting to experience the album together with the fans during these times"

Ahead of releasing Dawn FM tomorrow (January 7), the Weeknd has made his priorities clear when it comes to the album's physical release: it "doesn't matter."

Today, when poked by Twitter user MrPopOfficial, who pointed out the album's first-week sales could be impacted by a lack of CDs, vinyl and cassettes, the artist born Abel Tesfaye responded, "What matters is getting to experience the album together with the fans during these times." Our hero.

Considering the worldwide vinyl shortage, it may come as no surprise to an industry vet like Tesfaye that wax and tape editions of dawn FM won't ship out of his online store until April 29. In the meantime, fans will have plenty of chances to get their ears on the music in lieu of their mitts.

In addition to landing on streaming services at midnight (ET) tonight, the album is also due to be celebrated in a "livestream experience" through Amazon Music's Twitch channel, temporarily taken over by Tesfaye's "103.5 Dawn FM." That will go live at midnight as well.
