The Trews have announced The Wanderer, the Nova Scotia band's sixth record and the follow-up to 2018's Civilianaires. It's out November 19 on Known Accomplice.
The band teased the record back in April with the pandemic-anxiety anthem "I Wanna Play," and today sees the release of its title track — a blunt, driving rocker that provides another taste of what guitarist John-Angus MacDonald has called "a really strong rock record from start to finish. Every song was mulled over extensively."
Recorded with producers Rich Robinson, Derek Hoffman and Eric Ratz in three separate sessions over two years, the 13-track record was largely shaped by the pandemic, as evidenced by "I Wanna Play."
"The pandemic bought us more time which you always need with songwriting. There are songs that would not be on this record had it happened another way," said singer/guitarist Colin MacDonald. "We accidentally honed our recording skills because there was no live show to get to."
