Wrestling enthusiast and noted Disneyland hater Billy Corgan is shifting the spotlight back to what we originally loved him for — fronting the Smashing Pumpkins. Now, he'll be taking the band out on the road for another round of "In Plainsong" dates.
The tour will see the band — currently composed of Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain and Jeff Schroeder — delivering "acoustic-electro" evenings to 19 North American cities, reprising a concept that brought them around the United States in 2015. This time around, Liz Phair will be joining the band as the show's opening act.
"What started as an interest in playing a truly different kind of show and looking for a different way to explore their storied musical past morphed into something new and exciting for the fans in every city," said Peter Katsis, the group's manager, in a press release. "This touches the opposing side to the Pumpkins usual roar!"
Fans will be able to hear the Smashing Pumpkins rework their beloved back catalogue beginning on March 22 in Portland. The tour will stop in Toronto on April 12 at Massey Hall, marking the only Canadian date for this run. General tickets for that performance go on sale February 5, but a presale goes live on February 4 at 10 a.m. EST here. The password is PLAINSONG.
