Local punks the Shiverettes kicked off the third and final night of music on the Patio "Albeerta" Stage at Big Winter Classic, their unabashed sound invigorating the audience. Singer Hayley Muir's intense vocals stood out amidst the equal parts groovy and dissonant songs, especially on one about a sexist judge who recently made the news for saying "keep your legs closed" during an assault case.
The Shiverettes' strong musicianship was on display, in the tight drumming of "Hate You Later" and the big bass lines of "Go Fuck Yr Selfie," both off of the band's Just Three Songs EP, released in October. Their impassioned performance was big, bold and unapologetic, and established them as a band with something important to say.
