The National have been hinting at a new album for a while now, and it seems that an announcement might be imminent. The group have been mailing teasers to members of their Cherry Tree fan community, hinting that something will be happening this Friday (January 13).
Reddit users report receiving a cutout face in the mail. On the back are the words "Tranquilize the Mind" along with this Friday's date. See that teaser below.

Beyond that, nothing has been confirmed — although an email to fans last summer confirmed that the band were "close to finishing" a new album. They have been playing new material during live shows, and last year released the single "Weird Goodbyes," featuring Bon Iver.
The National's most recent album was 2019's I Am Easy to Find. The band's Dessner brothers, Bryce and Aaron, will both appear on the debut album by Complete Mountain Almanac.
