Your children aren't spending any time with their school's aggressively "cool" drama teacher, but that doesn't mean they won't get their fill of hip-hoppin' edutainment. Yes, Lin Manuel-Miranda had been set to release a Hamilton movie in theatres next year, but the whole thing has been bumped up to arrive on Disney+ this summer.

The project, which imagines what Alexander Hamilton would have been like if he had a slam poetry goatee, was filmed live with its original Broadway cast and scheduled for release in theatres on October 15, 2021. Considering how much people lapped this shit up in real life, it likely would've been a huge draw in cinemas.

"In this very difficult time, this story of leadership, tenacity, hope, love & the power of people to unite against adversity is both relevant and inspiring," Disney executive chairman Robert Iger said.

The film will now hit Disney+ on July 3 of this year. Read Lin Manuel-Miranda's announcement below.
