New Zealand power pop masters the Beths have announced a new record called Expert in a Dying Field, arriving September 16 on Carpark Records. Alongside the news, the band have also shared lead single "Silence Is Golden" and announced a North American tour.
"Silence is Golden" is an absolute ripper of a track, with a sound that finds the middle ground between the scuzz of 2018's Future Me Hates Me and the gloss of 2020's Jump Rope Gazers. It comes attached to a video that finds the quartet jamming and swapping perspectives in a dark room.
A statement accompanying the album announcement notes that the Beths' Expert in a Dying Field is "meant to be experienced live, for both the listeners and themselves."
The Beths will hit the road this summer to support the album, heading out on a North American tour that includes stops in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
In 2021, the Beths teamed up with Ducks Ltd. for the Canadian duo's "Under the Rolling Moon." The quartet also released a single of their own — the spiky "A Real Thing" — earlier this year, though it won't appear on Expert in a Dying Field.
