The Barr Brothers Return with 'Queens of the Breakers' LP, Share New Single

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 21, 2017

The Barr Brothers gave us a surprise outtakes EP with Alta Falls back in 2015, but the Montreal outfit are finally ready to deliver a proper full-length follow-up to 2014's Sleeping Operator. Titled Queens of the Breakers, the new LP is out October 13 via Secret City.

The album arrives after the group's longest break to date, and since the last record's release, namesake band members Brad and Andrew Barr have both become fathers, while harpist Sarah Page has been working on ways to redefine her instrument in a modern context.

A press release described the upcoming collection as a set of "hypnotically fluid songs that speak to the raw, elemental power of reflection, forgiveness, loss, and growing up."

The album was engineered by Ryan Freeland and Marcus Paquin, and recorded between Montreal and St. Zenon, QC.

The Barr Brothers will be taking the new tunes outside of their home province on an upcoming tour, and you can see all of their upcoming live dates below.

Below, you'll also find the trailer and full tracklisting for Queen of the Breakers, as well as an audio preview with a stream of "You Would Have to Lose Your Mind."
