After releasing a handful of singles earlier this year, the Avalanches have confirmed plans for their first new record in four years, We Will Always Love You, now with its own title and cover art. So far, the group have yet to announce a release date for the album.
We Will Always Love You — an "exploration of the vibrational relationship between light, sound and spirit" — and its Jonathan Zawada-designed cover art were inspired by Ann Druyan of Voyager Golden Record Project's "cosmic love story," according to a recent Instagram post.
The Avalanches wrote of the upcoming release:
In keeping with the album's theme of everlasting love as an undying vibration, Ann's image was run through a spectrograph, turned into sound, and back again. The image remains hidden, deep within the grooves of the music, for you to discover if you wish.
So far, they've yet to share an official tracklist, though the record announcement follows the 2020 release of a number of singles including "Wherever You Go" featuring Jamie xx, Neneh Cherry and CLYPSO, "Reflecting Light" featuring Sananda Maitreya and Vashti Bunyan, the Blood Orange-assisted title track, "We Will Always Love You," and "Running Red Lights" with Rivers Cuomo and Pink Siifu.
The Avalanches' last full-length record was 2016's Wildflower.
