Radiohead spinoff project the Smile have quietly surprise-released a new 12-inch single.
After having begun teasing something last week (August 1), the Smile revealed on Friday (August 3) that they have released a new 12-inch containing two new songs: "Don't Get Me Started" and "The Slip." They shared a seemingly AI-generated video of the 12-inch in a vinyl rack.
The songs currently aren't on streaming services, but the vinyl is in record stores now. Vancouver's Red Cat Records shared a photo showing that it has copies in store.
The Smile have since continued their mysterious campaign, as they shared another cryptic image yesterday (August 4).
It's already been an eventful and rocky year for the Smile. They released their album Wall of Eyes in January, and cancelled their tour dates this summer after guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Jonny Greenwood fell seriously ill and was hospitalized. Back in the spring, Greenwood was criticized for performing in Israel, prompting him to release a statement to explain why.
