Techno Animal

Dead Man's Curse

BY I. KhiderPublished Oct 1, 2001

A three-track EP featuring spoken word vocals by Roger Robinson, on the title track, and the third track is the instrumental version. I'm not certain why Techno Animal call themselves such, as they seem to have more in common with hip-hop and trip-hop then techno. Dead Man's Curse shares similarities with hip-hop, since there is rhythm to Robinson's delivery, but his style is too aggressive and rant-like, hence spoken word to thundering beats and chaotic sounds would be a more apt description. Track two, "City of Glass," is an instrumental that opens up with a heavy beat, followed by screeching car tires and bits of ultra-fine techno styling. Aggressive, dark, nightmarish; I can't wait to hear this album in its entirety.
