West African by way of Washington, DC MC Tabi Bonney gave further proof that the U.S. is bubbling over with talent. Despite starting his set to a half-filled venue, Bonney went to great strides to engage his audience, even splitting the crowd down the middle and pitting the two sides against each other. In between new jack swing-inspired dance moves he dropped some solid rhymes on stage, delivering each line like a decades-old veteran. His boom-bap beats were punctuated with some creative sampling, but his set really soared when he branched out with more ethereal tracks like "Nuthin' But a Hero."
