T.I., the rapper now best known for imparting his ignorance — medical, societal, parental and otherwise — with "hymen gate" nearly three years ago, has been accused of punching a member of EDM twosome the Chainsmokers in the face after the DJ gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Drew Taggart, a Chainsmoker and also just some guy, posted a TikTok on the duo's account yesterday (August 16) detailing his experience meeting T.I., which went from a fun first encounter to an almost-bar fight.
UPDATE (8/16, 4:26 p.m. ET): T.I. has confirmed Taggart's account in a video captured by The Shade Room, sharing that everything is good between him and the 'smokers. "They make great music," he said in the clip. "I think the important thing to take away is that afterwards, we had a drink, we took a shot, you know what I'm saying? And we moved on."
The video, titled "When meeting T.I. goes wrong," sees Taggart in the backseat (of your rover) with the chain to his smoker, Alex Pall, explaining what went down, seemingly immediately after the fact amid interspersed clips of the DJ in the club with the rapper. So you know this story is certified real and true!
"T.I. just literally punched me in the face," Taggart says in the footage, Pall erupting with laughter in the background.
"We were on a vibe and I was like — I gave him a kiss on the cheek, it was totally my fault," Taggart elaborated. "And he was like, 'Don't do that,' and I was like, 'Okay,' and he pushed me off. And I was like, 'Alright, my bad.'"
Pall interjects: "Dude, his friend goes, 'You need to get your boy.'"
"And then he punched me in the face and I was like 'Okay, I'm sorry,'" his Chainsmoker counterpart continued. "And he was like, 'Alright cool, we're good.' It was the weirdest interaction ever."
"First of all, T.I. is fully in the right here," Taggart added. "I was feeling the vibes way too hard and I kissed T.I. on the cheek. And he punched me in the face for it! It's fully fine."
Ah yes, the familiar perils of getting on a vibe with T.I. (we all remember the "Live Your Life" era) and the rapper... proceeding to be T.I. Anyway, consent is key — and at least the Chainsmokers will be safe from any blurred lines when they're sent to space.
