From Regina, SK, Sylvie is a strange combination of Tool's melodic side, with the ethereal vocal bit, and when shifting into harder territory, they take on the Jawbox rhythm machinery style of riff making. There are also hints of that mid-90s indie math twinkle rock (Karate, Table), albeit overpowered by a grand sense of the emo vibe. And then, pure pop takes over, and then they slightly shift into that popular West coast rock sound (no names here). Sylvie are a promising band, possibly in the trajectory of commercial-dom, as they omit a variety of styles but cleverly combine them all and somehow create a consistent album with them.
