Carly Rae Jepsen is a force of nature. In fact, the pop star might even possess something more potent: in the face of inclement weather, the Queen not only moves swiftly to protect her royal subjects, but goes to extreme lengths in pursuit the show going on.

Last night (August 7) was the first of Jepsen's two scheduled concerts at the Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City. After playing four songs, she had to cut the set short because of a lightning storm — news which she and attendees alike found out when the rooftop venue's monitor screen displayed a cancellation message. "Tonight's show has ended," it read, urging concertgoers to calmly exit the rooftop.

Before leaving the stage, Jepsen addressed the crowd as heavy streaks of rain began to fall. "I found out in real-time just like you did and I'm so sorry, we're so disappointed," she said. "We're going to make it up to you, I promise! But apparently it's a safety issue so we wanna keep you off the roof."

Raising an inflatable sword procured from an audience member, she declared, "No one's getting electrocuted tonight!"

And Jepsen and her camp really did immediately spring into action to make it up to her fans. As the singer-songwriter explained in an Instagram post today, she explained that her band and team members started calling local venues.

"I gathered the crew, checked their exhaustion levels (high) and their excitement levels (higher), and we went out to Rockwood," she wrote, referring to the music hall where they were able to get a 150-capacity room to play. "Following Prince's footsteps, we snuck in three rounds of a full house and played with borrowed instruments (ours were still hostage on the roof). I experienced more rebellious joy than ever before and felt so connected to you all."

Ahead of her second Pier 17 show tonight, Jepsen snuck in an additional matinee performance this afternoon. She is for the people!
