As Toronto, ON folk rockers Sunparlour Players get set to embark on a coast-to-coast Canadian tour to support their newest release, Wave North, they've announced a rather surprising partnership with Bernardin, one of Canada's leading producers of home canning products.
For Sunparlour Players singer Andrew Penner, this couldn't have made more sense, considering he grew up on a farm outside of Windsor, ON. "With the resurgence of eating local and thinking about where your food is coming from, home canning is one of those things that is really becoming popular again," Penner said in a statement. "We've been doing this for a while - selling some of our favourite preserves at our shows when we tour."
As for Bernardin, company president Jim Rotz discovered Sunparlour Players' love for home canning when he checked out one of their shows, which featured a merch table filled with the band's signature jams, jellies and sauces right alongside their albums. "This is the first time we've worked with a band before, and we're excited to bring them on as ambassadors for Bernardin," Rotz said.
If you're planning on attending a Sunparlour Players' show during their Canadian tour, be sure you check out the merch table to get your fill of delicious homemade mustard, beet jelly, red pepper and basil spreads.
