Ultra-distorted drone metal titans Sunn O))) are due to eclipse the competition this Friday (December 4) with the release of their long-awaited Kannon. If you're bursting at the seams in anticipation of the record, Sunn O)))'s first proper LP since 2009, then you're in luck: the record is streaming in full ahead of its street date.
As previously reported, the album has Sunn O))) delivering three extended pieces, which you'll find below. "Kannon 1" kicks things off with a burst of distortion and a grisly vocal performance from longtime project contributor Attila Csihar (Mayhem). "Kannon 2" explores both bleak and blissful textures via the use of Gregorian chant work, while "Kannon 3" features a cyclical, melancholy riff to get its point across.
You can stream everything now, courtesy of Rolling Stone, while Southern Lord slides the album into stores on December 4.
Sunn O))) dropped both their Soused album with Scott Walker and the Terrestrials collaboration with Ulver in 2014, but Kannon is the first just-Sunn-billed LP since 2009's Monoliths & Dimensions.
