On the heels of announcing Canadian stops on a North American tour, Sudan Archives has been named the guest curator for Sled Island's 2020 edition.
The violinist/vocalist will also perform at Central United Church on June 25 as part of the festival, which is set to run June 24 to 28 in over 30 venues across Calgary.
Her curated selections will join roughly 250 additional bands, comedy film and visual art projects chosen by the festival.
Sudan Archives released her Athena album last year, which Exclaim! named one of the Best Soul, Funk and World Albums of 2019. She's slated to play Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal on tour in February and March.
Previous guest curators at Sled Island include Julien Baker, Deerhoof, Flying Lotus, Peaches and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
