Blue J brings together Justice McLellan, Lindsay Sjoberg, Mark Whiting and Adam Fink, and the Vancouver-based band will release their debut EP next week. Before it officially lands, though, Exclaim! is giving you a listen to the self-titled offering in its entirety.
The record began as an after-hours project between bins at Zulu Records, and once the initial ideas were fully formulated, they enlisted John Raham to helm the three-day recording process at Afterlife Studios.
According to the band, the record centres on "a long-distance relationship, moving to Vancouver, small moments, isolation in the city, maturity in romance, friendship and issues with mental health."
You can hear those experiences get translated into song by giving Blue J a spin in the player below.
The EP is officially out on August 17.
Tour dates:
08/18 Rock Creek, BC - Ponderosa
08/22 Vancouver, BC - Sonic Summer Nights
09/16 Toronto, ON - Horseshoe Tavern
09/17 Ottawa, ON - Cafe Dekcuf
09/18 Montreal, QC - Bar Le Ritz
