Arriving via Mustafa's own Regent Park Songs, When Smoke Rises features work with James Blake, Frank Dukes, Jamie xx and Sampha.
"When Smoke Rises is about losing someone you love and retracing what of you they left with," Mustafa writes in a letter accompanying the release. "It took years for me to find the strength to write these songs. It felt impossible to reimagine & beautify the violence of my friends' departures from this earth, still I tried."
A new video for "The Hearse" can also be found below. Accompanying visuals for previously shared singles "Stay Alive" and "Air Forces" were recently nominated for the 2021 Prism Prize.
