The recently announced Stooges reunion set for 2010 is exciting for fans waiting to see Iggy Pop and co. revive their beloved Raw Power-era material. But the news just got better, as Pop has revealed that the band might enter the studio to record some unheard gems written in that same era.

According to an interview with Pop by BANG Showbiz [via Consequence of Sound], the band have considered reviving some long lost rarities. "James Williamson is really hot to trot and there's a lot of old stuff that the Stooges failed to record," Pop said of the original guitarist. "We wrote a load of songs that we only ever played live, so I'm looking forward to doing some studio recordings."

While the details are sketchy, the possibility of the band recording some vintage Stooges material is promising, especially when you consider the polished turd that was their 2007 album The Weirdness.
