Last week, Handsome Furs abruptly announced their breakup after cancelling a spring European tour due to an "urgent health issue." While we still don't know the full story behind the split, singer Dan Boeckner clearly isn't dwelling on it, since he just started a new band with Spoon's Britt Daniel called Divine Fits.
The news comes via a brief announcement from Merge Records, who also inform us the Los Angeles-based band includes drummer Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks. Their debut LP will arrive later this year through Merge, and expect live dates to be announced before long.
At this point, it's unclear what roles Daniel and Boeckner will be playing in the trio, and we're not sure whether this will be a dual frontman situation (much like what Boeckner did as a member of Wolf Parade). The band's Twitter account and website don't offer much in the way of answers, but keep checking back for updates.
