Spiritbox Are Certified Hotties on the Rock Remix of Megan Thee Stallion's "Cobra"

The Victoria band add some heavy guitars and throat-shredding wails to the rapper's latest single

Megan Thee Stallion's "Cobra" was already flirting with rock music — with its staccato guitar beat and nervy closing solo — when she dropped it last week, but now she's leaning in completely with a Spiritbox remix of the new single.

"Cobra (Rock Remix)" sees the Victoria band laying down heaving walls of guitar and a new, live-drum beat beneath Meg's dark and anxiety-ridden verses, while vocalist Courtney LaPlante adds her own sung verses and backs up Meg with some screamed accompaniment.

Spiritbox transform the song pretty completely, and it really leans into the Evanescence of it all without losing the edge of Meg's original message.

LaPlante thanked the Houston rapper for reaching out to them for the remix, writing on Instagram, "Thank you Megan for allowing us the opportunity to collaborate on your already iconic new song 'Cobra.' I am beyond grateful to you." Guitarist Mike Stringer added, "Thank you to Megan for trusting us to mash up both of our worlds. Nothing but respect, and gratitude. It's an absolute honour."
