Toronto indie folkers Spirit Josh are back with their third record. The Exclaim! Class of 2020 graduates will release Paint a Lucky Picture on May 5.
A concept album in part, Paint a Lucky Picture is said to be more stripped back than the band's past two albums: "This whole time we've been saying that this needed to be our Loaded, or our Propeller," bandleader Matt Jonn Lewis tells Exclaim! "We wanted to capture a time in our lives and an alt-country appreciation, more than we did any one message. So this record has been about hitting the ground running, and seeing what we could do as a band."
He continued: "This is what happened when we followed the invisible hand that pointed that way and said, 'Go.'"
Alongside the album announcement, Spirit Josh have shared a music video for single "Trout! Fishing!" Watch it below.
