Spawn of Possession

Incurso

BY Denise FalzonPublished Mar 13, 2012

Swedish tech-death metallers Spawn of Possession return with their third full-length, Incurso, their Relapse debut and first new album in over five years. Now featuring current and former members of genre heavyweights Necrophagist and Obscura, the result is a whirlwind of intense and vicious technical death metal, complete with blazing riffs, complex songwriting and unpredictable time signatures. However, the tracks aren't overly technical and convoluted just for the sake of it; Spawn of Possession have crafted well-written songs that showcase their musical prowess, but are still catchy and memorable. "Where Angels Go Demons Follow" is a sonic attack and "Bodiless Sleeper" continues with ruthless aggression, while "Spiritual Deception" changes the pace with some slower, yet still heavy, moments. Incurso is tech-death done exceptionally well, proof that Spawn of Possession haven't missed a beat during their hiatus.
