Sky Ferreira is heading to the silver screen, as the singer has taken on a roll in the upcoming film Elvis & Nixon.
The film examines the meeting between Elvis Presley and U.S. President Richard Nixon, which took place on December 21 of 1970. Presley had asked Nixon for a Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs badge, and Nixon agreed to meet him in an effort to win the favour of young Americans.
In the film, which is currently being shot in Atlanta, Michael Shannon is starring as Elvis while Kevin Spacey is playing Nixon. The Hollywood Reporter [via Pitchfork] notes that the cast also features Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville and Tracy Letts. It's being directed by Liza Johnson.
Ferreira will apparently be playing the love interest of Jerry Schilling, a friend of Elvis who accompanied him on the trip to meet Nixon. Ferreira posted a photo of Elvis and Nixon on Instagram and wrote, "Feeling #BLESSED to be apart of this."
Meanwhile, Ferreira has begun work on her next album.
