Quebec pop-punk lifers Simple Plan have shared a music video for their latest single "Wake Me Up (When This Nightmare's Over)" that doubles as a fundraiser to support the people of Ukraine.
The visual accompaniment for our most review preview of their forthcoming album Harder Than It Looks centres on the story of a Ukrainian family's struggles in the war-torn region, which has been subject to invasion by Russia since February.
Filmed in Los Angeles last month in partnership with a Ukrainian community of crew and actors, it was directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Jensen Noen, who also directed the band's recent videos for Sum 41 collaboration "Ruin My Life" and "The Antidote."
The director played a big role in the video's genesis, with drummer Chuck Comeau saying in a behind-the-scenes clip: "We were talking with our friend and director Jensen Noen, who's from Ukraine, and it started to feel like maybe we could use our platform; maybe we could use this song to try to raise awareness and raise money for all the families and young children that have become refugees overnight."
According to the group, all money generated by YouTube views of the music video will be donated to UNICEF to aid Ukrainian relief efforts.

Simple Plan recently announced their Blame Canada Tour with Sum 41, which is ironically skipping Canada.
