Burlington, ONs favourite quintet are back with Arrivals and Departures. After listening to the albums explosive opening track, "Sound Of The Sun, its safe to dismiss any thoughts that the band might have gone for a different sound. Any track from Arrivals and Departures could easily be placed on Discovering the Waterfront. Thats not to say Silverstein havent accomplished something admirable, or even appealing. The feeling of the bands live show is certainly present; the songs are still catchy; and the brutal screaming is still quite distinguishable as Shane Told, whose vocals come across stronger than ever. The albums climax occurs during the third track ("If You Could See Into My Soul), which stands out because of its instrumental technicality. This could be due to the fact that the song is one of four written by guitarist Neil Boshart; the rest of the album was written by Shane Told and guitarist Josh Bradford, with four and three songs each, respectively. For those who did their homework, the strength of the album shouldnt be surprising. With legendary producer Mark Tromboni (Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World) at the helm, success is a given.
