We've known for some time now that Vancouver indie pop unit Shimmering Stars will be issuing their sophomore set Bedrooms of the Nation in 2014, but it's still unclear exactly when it arrives. Until then, the band have unearthed a handful of demos and rarities for their faithful as Lost and Found Sounds 2009-2013.
The first half of the 10-song compilation contains semi-recent recordings of songs expected to appear on Bedrooms of the Nation, with "Fangs" weighing in with multipart vocal harmonies and slippery guitar slides and "Shadow Visions" playing slightly psychedelic with its overblown whirlwind of distortion and fuzzy vocals. The back end includes a '50s sock-hoppin' instro track fittingly dubbed "Instrumental," recorded back in 2010, and a pretty faithful cover of the Beach Boys' "In My Room."
