Retro-flavoured Vancouver popsmiths the Shilohs were recently picked up by Light Organ Records, and will apparently be delivering a full-length follow-up to 2011's So Wild at some point. Up first from the band, however, is a two-song 7-inch release on Real Estate/Ducktails dude Matthew Mondanile's New Images imprint. While the record won't arrive until October 9, you can catch the A-side, "Private Lives," in the stream down below.
The song mines free and easy '70s rock territory, with influence pulled from Big Star and maybe even a smidge of Crazy Horse. Something about how those limber guitar leads mesh with the airy piano plunks, though, brings to mind Rubies-era Destroyer, which, considering the track was also produced by JC/DC, makes for a true West Coast connection.
