The Shilohs singer-guitarist Johnny Payne loses his beard and his girl in the new video for jangly So Wild cut "English Roads," but at least he gets to show off his b-ball moves by the end of the clip.
Early on, we see the guy packing up his things to hitch his way to his sweetheart's home. Needless to say, the trip didn't go as well as he had hoped, but at least his jump shot is as smooth as his newly shorn mug. There's some wistful romanticism thrown in as well, and you can catch it all in the video down below.
"This is based on a dream I had," Payne told Diffuser. "I was walking home drunk, very late at night in Vancouver, and I stumbled upon a couple of young dudes playing basketball. I joined in, shared their red wine, played some horse, but I just couldn't make a basket. I was throwing up bricks all over the place. Eventually it seemed like they wanted me to leave so I set off into the night … Oh, and I was in love with a girl who didn't love me."
