Shearwater have hinted that their forthcoming Sub Pop LP Animal Joy could be a little more chaotic than their previous baroque pop offerings. Now we can judge for ourselves by listening to the album cut "Animal Life."
Beginning with delicate acoustic plucking and a fluttering vocal melody, the mood gradually picks up over the course of the three-and-a-half minute runtime. The track eventually culminates in an electrified rock out that packs a modest punch. Take a listen over at NPR, where you can also hear previews from a number of other upcoming 2012 releases.
Animal Joy will arrive on Valentine's Day (February 14).
Thanks to Stereogum for the heads-up.
