MacGowan's wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, has since posted a number of images of the singer in hospital, the latest of which show him with a breathing apparatus. Judging by her photo updates, MacGowan was back at home in the spring, but appears to have been in hospital since at least July. NME reports that he was hospitalized in Dublin in June.
In an update on November 11, Clarke posted an Instagram photo of her and MacGowan kissing and wrote, "Sometimes when you love very deeply you will find yourself facing terrifying fears of loss that can feel so big and devastating that you don't know how you can survive them and you can't imagine life without this person that you love."
Yesterday, she posted a photo of MacGowan on X (formerly Twitter), offering "a massive thanks to everyone who has been messaging."
