Coming off a breakout year, it's back to business for celebrated West coast Canadian imprint Silent Season. Returning to its ranks to release his fifth full-length album (and first solo effort since 2009) is BC-born Jordan Sauer. Sauer's understated, heavily textured productions as Segue have been finding their way into collectives all over the world, but his personal affiliation with Silent Season (and the project's homeland) make it the perfect place to commemorate the occasion. Segue's latest venture is his most rhythmic and dub-focused work to date. Sauer uses every opportunity to utilize his sampling talent. Rich layers of ambient noise, crackling field recordings, even a live tabla (as featured on the album's single, "Snow Dub") give the record satisfying grit. Everything in Pacifica fits into place. From the beautiful cover photo of San Josef Bay to heart-warming opener "Westcoast Trail," it's immediately evident just how exceptionally well the concept for this album was conceived.
