Sebastien Tellier Announces Another North American Tour

After years of relative indifference, there's no doubt 2008 was a big one for Sebastien Tellier. Not only did the promiscuously charged Parisian get to work with one-half of Daft Punk but he landed a deal with American Apparel, represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest, ignited a heated national debate and toyed with the idea of scoring a porn film. To top it all off, Tellier also found his 2008 album, Sexuality, repeatedly popping up on the year's best-of lists, just like it did in Exclaim!'s Frequencies top ten. Well, now it appears the Frenchman is looking for a bit of that success to carry over into 2009, when this spring Tellier will cross the Atlantic for another round of North American tour dates.

On this year's visit, Tellier will once again swing through several U.S. cities, as well as return to Toronto and Montreal. However, this time out he's adding his first ever Vancouver stop and pairing up with the synth-minded NYC trio Chairlift, who will join Tellier's road show for the West coast leg of the tour.

There's no word on any Sexuality follow-up just yet but Oikotimes.com reports that he's writing songs for a new album by Demis Roussos, the famed Greek pop singer and one-time member of late '60s rock outfit Aphrodite's Child. (Strangely enough, Roussos looked a lot like Tellier in his younger days, check it out). Fellow Frenchman Bertrand Burgalat is also reportedly involved with the album, which is expected in May 2009.
