Continuing to win over the hearts and ears of fans across Canada is Scott Helman, a young singer-songwriter who proves that age is but a number. At just 18 years old, the Toronto native is a Warner Music Canada signee, and his future only looks brighter after his debut EP saw its release this month.
We invited Helman and his backing band to the Exclaim! office for a performance of "Bungalow," taken from said EP, Augusta.
Set up out back of the building with his lead guitarist and percussionist, Helman's original tune opens with his delicate vocals accompanied by a steady strum pattern. It isn't long before Helman is joined by a strong backbeat on cajon and gentle electric guitar. Both players step outside of their comfort zones for a short, powerful solo section at the song's end.
