Jake Shears, vocalist for NYC glam outfit Scissor Sisters will be working with tour-mate John "JJ" Garden on writing the score for a Broadway musical.
Titled Tales of the City, the musical was originally a book written by Armistead Maupin and dubbed "Britain's best gay novel." The story revolves around Mary Ann Singleton, a woman from the Midwest who moves to San Francisco and meets an unusual group of colourful characters.
The musical's production will be headed up by the same team that worked on the hit Avenue Q, including Jeff Whitty, who won a Tony award for Best Book of a musical in 2004 for his work on the puppet show. Details are scarce regarding the musical but the BBC has reported that Tales of the City will hit the stage in 2009.
