We've got good and bad news for fans of Toronto roots-punks the Schomberg Fair. The good news is that they have a new album due out next month; the bad news is that they've announced they are going on indefinite hiatus.
The album is called I Won't Be Afraid, which will arrive July 8. It was engineered and mixed by Dean Marino (Tokyo Police Club, Cadence Weapon). According to a press release, the eight-song collection "builds on the grit and intensity that the Schomberg Fair are celebrated for, and once again raises the bar for their forceful brand of gospel magic."
The album cover is above and the tracklist is below. Scroll down to hear the dark, dusty and loud title track.
Unfortunately, the album is apparently so strong that the band have decided to use it as their swan song prior to what will be an "indefinite hiatus." Bassist Nathan Sidon said in a statement, "This is the record we've wanted to make for eight years."
I Won't Be Afraid:
1. I Won't Be Afraid
2. Razor
3. Where Were You
4. Fire In the Dark
5. Dust I Go
6. Drunkard's Prayer
7. Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down
8. Take Me to the Water
