More than a year removed from 2012's Providence EP, Toronto cowpunks the Schomberg Fair have shared a new batch of songs as they prepare to hit the road to close out 2013.
The new mini-collection is called Take Me to the Water, and it consists of four songs that span 16 minutes. It doesn't seem that the songs will be available commercially, since they're available for free on SoundCloud.
Stream and/or download the four-song set at the bottom of this page.
The EP was recorded in Toronto this past June with Jeff McMurrich (Fucked Up, John K. Samson), and a press release notes that it "sees the band's sonic evolution of the roots-rock genre drift towards a more dream-like aesthetic and away from the folk-punk sound which characterized much of their earlier work."
As for the upcoming tour dates, they run from late November to mid-December, in which time the group will play a string of East Coast dates before heading to Ontario and Quebec. The first leg features a handful of gigs with the Motorleague and VKNGS, while later dates are with I Say Run!, White Cowbell Oklahoma and Drag the River, respectively.
See the schedule below.
