SappyFest will once again take over Sackville, NB, this coming summer, and before the weekend of music and arts hits the city, organizers have detailed the initial lineup of performers for this year's event.
Weaves, Lido Pimienta, Daniel Romano, Partner, Willie Thrasher, Bernice, Tough Age, Teenanger, Myriam Gendron, and the Highest Order will all be on hand as part of SappyFest's 12th edition, which is set to take place from August 4 to 6.
A press release reveals that this year's event will also feature film screenings of Native North America Vol. 1 presented by Kevin Howes, an art exhibit and artist talk/workshop by Pimienta, readings by Notes of a Feminist Killjoy author Erin Wunker, and a converted school bus (dubbed the "Golden Bus") that will host intimate acoustic performances.
Last month, SappyFest named Steven Lambke the creative director of the festival.
"We are thrilled to welcome these rare and wonderful artists and performers to Sackville this August to take part in SappyFest 12; we are thrilled by their bold challenges, their brave truth telling, their wisdom and wildness and weirdness, their guitar playing and image making, their singing and thinking and poetry," Lambke said in a statement. "When we gather together with open minds and kind hearts we can make magic; together we can open a space where we can all hear and be heard, where we can see and be seen, a space where we can meet and be truthful and celebrate."
A limited number of early bird festival passes can be had now for $95 plus fees. You can get your hands on one here.
