In addition to being the unofficial leader of lauded rap crew the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA has been busy in the world of film as of late. In addition to prepping his own kung-fu flick, the hip-hop star has been linked to projects like Califonication, G.I. Joe 2 and Funny People. Now, he's slated to appear in yet another movie: Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Django Unchained.
This isn't the first time that Tarantino and RZA have worked together. The acclaimed director previously hired RZA to produce the score for his 2003 film Kill Bill Volume 1 and its 2004 sequel Volume 2 (after Metallica turned Tarantino down).
This time, RZA will be stepping in front of the cameras instead of lurking behind the mixing board. Variety [via The Playlist] reports that he'll be playing the "support role" of Thaddeus, who is "a violent slave working on a Mississippi plantation."
Django Unchained is a spaghetti western set in the southern U.S., and it involves a slave taking his revenge on his master. The film is currently slated to arrive on Christmas Day 2012, and it will feature an impressive cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jamie Foxx, Kurt Russell, Kerry Washington and Don Johnson.
