Wu-Tang Clan are currently at the Sundance Film Festival for the premiere of their Of Mics and Men docu-series, and it's now been revealed that the hip-hop crew aren't quite finished lining up further productions for screen.
As Deadline reports, Wu-Tang's RZA and Ghostface Killah are set to team up with Impossible Dream Entertainment for a new thriller titled Angel of Dust. The project, for which RZA will serve as director, is said to be "inspired by true stories that happened around the hood to members of the global iconic rap group when they were growing up in and around the Staten Island Projects."
The storyline for Angel of Dust was created by Ghostface Killah and longtime manager Caruso, while the script was written by Matt Leslie and Stephen J. Smith (The Harrowing, Summer of '84). Deadline also notes that RZA will also score the film, with the rest of Wu-Tang groupmates set to provide a soundtrack.
The site also provided an abstract for the film as follows:
Casey is a normal yet exceptionally smart teenager and talented rapper but after the mysterious death of his parents he's been forced to grow up in NY's roughest inner-city streets (known as Shaolin in Wu-Tang folklore), basically on his own. As life in the hood around him gets tragically worse he must put his skills to the test to survive not only the gangs, corrupt cops, junkies and bullies, but a serial killer with seemingly supernatural powers dubbed Angel of Dust by the media.
Production and release dates for Angel of Dust have yet to be announced.
