We just learned that Black Mirror Season 5 is about to return to Netflix, and now we've got word that none other than Japanese music hero Ryuichi Sakamoto is providing the soundtrack to one of the new episodes. But no, it's not the Miley Cyrus one.
Today it was announced that Sakamoto has penned the score to the episode "Smithereens." What's only described as Sakamoto's "electronic-driven score" will arrive on June 7 via Milan Records, with a vinyl edition to follow.
To go along with the announcement, Sakamoto has shared the hauntingly beautiful OST track "this is my last day 2," which you can hear below.
You can see the artwork for the release above, and you can also watch the trailer for "Smithereens" below.
"Smithereens" was directed by James Hawes and stars Andrew Scott, Damson Idris and Topher Grace. According to Netflix, here's what to expect: "A cab driver with an agenda becomes the centre of attention on a day that rapidly spirals out of control."
As previously reported, Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones-helmed anthology series will arrive on Netflix on June 5 and will only consist of three episodes. Season 5 follows 2018's standalone choose-your-own-adventure film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.
