Earlier in the year, homegrown rock'n'roll heroes Rush announced plans for a massive 40th anniversary tour, which includes a couple of stops in their hometown of Toronto on June 17 and 19.
Now, fans who missed out getting tickets to the sold-out shows (or those who did and want to relive the experience) are in luck — the band have revealed that the concerts will be filmed for a future DVD release.
A statement from the band's official website is offering some suggestions for the shows' attendees. It reads:
Fans who have their coveted tickets to the sold out shows in Toronto are encouraged to represent and wear Rush shirts, bring signs and come ready with their 'outside' voices.
The tour follows last year's extensive R40 collectors box set, though it looks like Rush fans will have some additional concert footage to add to their collection in the near future.
The pair of upcoming recorded shows mark the first professionally filmed Toronto appearances since Rush's 1997 "Test for Echo" tour date at the Molson Amphitheatre. Prior to that their "Exit… Stage Left" show at the Forum in Montreal and in Glasgow, Scotland in 198, was captured on film, as was a 1984 "Grace Under Pressure" concert at the Maple Leaf Gardens. [An earlier version of this story indicated that Exit... Stage Left was filmed in Toronto.]
