The catalogue of Canadian power trio Rush continues to be celebrated, with news that 1982's Signals is the latest of their LPs to get the anniversary reissue treatment.
Signals — on which the threesome pondered digitized futures, played white boy reggae better than the Police, and sang of suburban isolation, rocketry for exploration and explosion, and literal "Chemistry" — gets treated to 40th anniversary Super Deluxe, picture disc LP and Dolby Atmos Digital editions on April 28 via Universal/Mercury and Anthem Records.
Not unlike past expanded anniversary offerings, the Signals Super Deluxe edition sports new cover art courtesy of longtime Rush collaborator Hugh Syme, while the album's 2015 remaster arrives on CD for the first time.
A new vinyl pressing of the album — cut for the first time at half-speed — is also included, pressed to 180-gram black vinyl and housed in a tip-on jacket featuring Syme's new artwork. For the digitally inclined, Signals has also been mixed in Dolby Atmos & 5.1 surround sound by Richard Chycki, arriving on a Blu-ray Audio disc that also packs in the 2015 48kHz 24-bit stereo remaster, new animated visualizers for each song and two bonus music videos for "Subdivisions" and "Countdown."
Also included are a 40-page hardcover book with new song illustrations and unreleased photos from the Signals tour, four 7-inches sporting new art, lenticular photos, four Signals tour band lithographs, a lithograph of Syme's original album cover sketch, and a double-sided poster featuring Syme's new art on one side and an outtake photo from the original album cover shoot on the other side
