Royal Wood released his new single "Forever and Ever" a couple of months back, and now the Toronto folk-pop singer has officially confirmed the details of his next album. The Burning Bright will be out on March 4.
The album was written in Ireland and Los Angeles, with recording taking place in Los Angeles and Toronto. Wood said in a statement, "This album has to do with the uncontrollable need I felt to be drawn to a new beginning and to find myself again, says Wood. I shut out all that I knew, and only allowed the uncovering of truth. No TV, no phone, no internet. Each day I awoke to listen to my body, mind and soul, and just existed in the day. As a result I finally heard music that had been there all along, but I had shut out in the chaos of the day to day."
The album apparently finds Wood reinventing his sound without losing the identity we heard on past albums like 2012's We Were Born to Glory. Wood said, "It was both a metamorphosis of self, and a rediscovery of the internal sacred self within. I was a moth to the burning bright."
For a taste of what this means, hear the exuberant "Forever and Ever" below. A video for the track will be filmed in December.
Before the album drops, Wood will embark on the final leg of "The Glory Tour" in January and February, when he will preview some songs from the new record. He will then launch the new incarnation of his tour in the spring. See the schedule below.
